A very sad funeral was held at the Clear take Baptist church last Monday afternoon when the last sad rites were said over the remains of Miss Carrie Esther Carlman, sister of Mrs. Frank Johnson of Clear Lake, whose death occurred at her home in Hopkins, Friday, July 15th, following a short illness of peritonitis. Mrs. Carlman, her mother, has been staying with Mr. and Mrs. Johnson in Clear Lake and Friday received a telegram that her daughter was seriously ill. She left the same day in company with Mr. and Mrs. Johnson and Minnie Johnson, but arrived too late, death coming only a few hours after the message had been sent. Miss Carlman was a charming young lady of but 22 years and was well educated, having held the position of principal of the schools at Corona, S. D. and where she was engaged to teach the coming year. The remains arrived here Monday and the funeral took place in the afternoon in the presence of a large gathering of friends. Rev. D. J. Gustafson conducted the services assisted by Rev. Anderson of the Methodist church. The remains were interred in the Baptist cemetery. The floral offerings were many and beautiful, an evidence of her popularity. Chas. A. Eckstrom of Minneapolis, her cousin, and R. E White of Corona, S. D., to whom she was betrothed, were those from abroad who attended the burial. The bereaved have the sympathy of this community.
