One Of The Oldest Residents Of Butte des Morts Expires. Funeral Wednesday.
Mrs. Mary Charlotte Benedict, one of the oldest residents of Butte des Morts, and the widow of the late Cyrus S. Benedict, who passed away nine years ago, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Maria Mae Flaherty, at Butte des Morts Saturday evening at 8 o'clock. The deceased had been ailing for three years and recently had been ill with the grippe.
Mrs. Benedict was born at Canisteo, Steuben county, New York, in 1847, and came to this section of the country when 10 years old, settling in the town of Winneconne. Her marriage to Cyrus Benedict took place in 1866. She is survived by five children, Oura, Jessie, Robert, and Clarence Benedict and Mrs. Flaherty, of Butte des Morts, twenty grandchildren and ? great grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon from the home of Mrs. Flaherty at 1:30 o'clock and from the Butte des Morts church at 2 o'clock, Rev. C.H. Wiese in charge.

Services For Mrs. Benedict At Butte des Morts Are Impressive -- The Exercises
The funeral of Mrs. Mary C. Benedict, pioneer resident of Butte des Morts, was held Wednesday afternoon at that village. Rev. C.H. Welse officiating. A short prayer service was held at the home at 1:30 o'clock and the church service was held at 2 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Welse sang. Interment was in the village cemetery.
The pallbearers were: John Moran, F.C. Scovil, E. Libby, J.J. ???, ? Doty, and George Overton.
Among those attending the funeral of the county pioneer were: Mrs. Stanley Cooper of Iron Mountain, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. John Moran of Omro, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Doughty, J. Tucker, Mrs. Mary Nickel, Mrs. J. Shawano, Mrs. Sarah Rasmussen and Mrs. O.A. Rasmussen, all of Winneconne: Guy Statelor of Two Rivers, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. George Benedict, Mrs. E. Schultz and Mr. and Mrs. George Mitzschski of Iron Mountain; Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Stein, Mr. and Mrs. H?. Doty, Mrs. E.E. Meleus, Mrs. E.C. Beech, K. Luhm, Mrs. George Hilton and A.A. Stannard, all of Oshkosh; and Mrs. Myra Hanson of Winchester. The floral offerings were many and beautiful.
