Notification that Sgt. John C. Coss was killed in action July 7 in France has been received by his wife, Jean, who lives on West Fourth Street. He was the 34th from Ashland County to die while in the service. Sgt. Coss was inducted Oct. 26, 1942 and was at Camp Atterbury, IN, then on maneuvers in Tennessee and Camp Breckenridge, Kentucky before being shipped overseas.
Born Feb. 23, 1922, he was a graduate of Ashland High School. Sgt. Coss was employed by the F. E. Myers and Bro. Co. in the office before his induction. He was married to Jean Broach of Ashland on his birthday in 1943.
Survivors include his father, James O. Coss, Columbus Grove, a brother, Lt. Frank Coss who is in the South Pacific, two sisters, Jane and Raeanna of Ashland. He lived most of his life with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Snader of Mansfield Road.
