---James C. Allen was born to W.C. and Sarah Ann Allen at Yates Center, Kansas, February 21, 1874. He departed this life February 22, 1949, in Tulsa, at the age of 75 years and one day.
---Mr. Allen came to Oklahoma when he was 18 years old, with his father and mother, who homesteaded in this section of the country. On December 1, 1895, he was married to Miss Anna Walker at Prague. Five children were born to this union, one whom preceded Mr. Allen in death. He was a carpenter by trade and had lived in and near Stroud for 58 years.
---He is survived by his widow of the home, two daughters, Mrs. Ada Phillips, Stroud, and Mrs. J.N. Butler, League City, Texas and two sons, Frank Allen, Healdton, and Hubert Allen, Visalia, Calif.
---Rev. Richard Chilton conducted the funeral services in the First Christian Church Thursday, February 24, at 2 o'clock. Burial was in the Prague Cemetery under the direction of the McVey-Lumm Funeral home.

Both James C. and Annie C. Allen are buried in the Prague Cemetery. Son William who died at age 17 is buried next to them.
