Casualty of the Great War,Alfred was a Second Lieutenant serving with "C" Bty. 78th Brigade~ Royal Field Artillery. He was 26.He was killed while Forward Observer at Rocquingny.

He was educated at Cambridge University 1915 and graduated Bachelor of Arts in 1916

His brother,Private Reginald George Woods also fell.

They are commemorated on the Brighton War Memorial

They were sons of Alfred and Mary Jane Woods of 72 Edward St., Brighton.
