|Andrew Brown (38133497), born in Kent County, Texas, in 1907. Enlisted June 12, 1942.|
Assigned to 570th Bomber Squadron, 390th Bomber Group (Heavy) as a crewman on B17G #42-31892, nicknamed "I'll Be Around."
Brown was piloting the aircraft on a mission to Boulogne on June 4, 1944. They suffered mechanical problems while forming up; the crew parachuted safely. Brown was killed when the B17 crashed during an attempted emergency landing.
Sergeant Brown was awarded the Silver Star, Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Purple Heart.
The Pima Air And Space Museum in Tucson features a B17 painted to look like Brown's original "I'll Be Seeing You."
