Dana served as a Captain & Navigator on a B-26 (#unknown), 442nd Bomber Squadron, 320th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Onondaga County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on September 9, 1941, prior to the war, at Fort Niagara, Youngstown, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a boilermaker and also as Single, without dependents.

This B-26, with a crew of 7, while on a mission over Sardinia was seen crashing in the sea off the coast of Sardinia. The entire crew perished.

Dana was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded an Air Medal and a Purple Heart.

Husband of Virginia W. Elliott who resided in St. Louis, Missouri.
