Margurette Denice McClain, 82, of Charlottesville, was called "home" to rest on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

She was born to the late William Thomas and Elizabeth Walker Collins on October 27, 1927, in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Andrew McClain; three sisters, Mary Hawkins, Cornelia Norris and Louise Walker; and two brothers, George Collins and Isaiah James Collins.

Margurette was a dedicated member of the Union Ridge Baptist Church and a strong believer in the Lord. She relied heavily on her faith in the Lord and was loved and appreciated by everyone whom she came in contact with. She was also a member of the BPO Elks of the USA and was a Daughter Elk of Elks Lodge Essex Temple No. 43 in Newark, New Jersey.

Mrs. McClain leaves to cherish her memory one devoted niece whom she raised Tracy Collins of Charlottesville, who cared for her and stayed by her side; three great-nieces, LaShanoda Roberson of Leesburg and LaTasha Collins of Charlottesville, whom she also raised; and Jakiah Glover also of Charlottesville; a host of great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held, Saturday, August 7, 2010, at the chapel of J. F. Bell Funeral with the Reverend Lester Smith officiating.

Interment at Lincoln Cemetery.
