Jane C. "Penny" Connor, 78, entered eternal life on April 13, 2010. Penny was born June 20, 1931 in Louisville, Ky. She was predeceased by her husband, Dan M. Connor in 2000 and her mother Selma Wernz Clem in 1992. She is survived by her children, Dayna C. and husband Michael A. Miller of Virginia Beach with whom she resided for the past five years, Julie C. and husband Tom Brown, her son, Michael D. Connor, and Georgie C. and husband Jeff June, all of Chesapeake. She will be cherished in memory by her grandchildren, Chris Miller, Nathan Miller, Connor June, Dwayne Connor, Katherine Brown, and Daniel Brown. She will also be cherished in memory by her special friend, Barbara Grow of Virginia Beach. Penny and her family were residents of Lakeside, Richmond until 1967 when they relocated to Carolanne Farms in Virginia Beach with VEPCO. She gave to her community as a Junior Girl Scout leader and leader trainer of the Girl Scout Council of Greater Tidewater and as a Sunday school and Confirmation teacher at St. Timothy Lutheran Church. Above all, she devoted herself to her family, loving each one unselfishly and wholeheartedly, providing a home made of fun, activity and security. She will be greatly missed and will continue to live in our hearts each day. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to each health care provider at Sentara Leigh Hospital, Norfolk General Infusion Center, and hospitalists involved in her excellent care. Most special gratitude to Dr. E.B. Hodge, Dr. John T. Bowers, and Dr. Michael Ryan for their compassion and outstanding medical care. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 17, at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Norfolk, the Rev. David Penman officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Penny's memory to Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 62345, Virginia Beach, VA 23466. "As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you." Isaiah 66:13
