Thomas William Jones, a lifelong resident of Wayne county, died in Leon Hospital at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, after an extended illness. He was 69 years, 6 months and 12 days old.

He was born in Allerton Nov. 29, 1876, the son of Isaac and Mary Jones. He was united in marriage to Dolly Mae Kelley Sept 12, 1900 after which they farmed in and around Wayne county until about 25 years ago when they moved to Allerton and Mr. Jones started in the carpenter's trade, which he continued until his death.

He is survived by six daughters, Fay Goodyear of Allerton, Bernadine Johnson of Lineville. Ethel Williams of Corydon, Dorothy Thompson of Allerton, Frane Willson of Allerton and Theda Meyers of Davenport; one son, Howard of Beloit, Wisc., four sisters, Mrs. Rhoda O'dell of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Clara Baker of Gravity, Ia., Mrs. Lola Luellen of Troy, Kan., and Mrs. Minnie Knapp of Allerton; four brothers, Bert of Kansas City, Mo., Newt of New Market, Ia., Ray of Clarinda and Wilbur of Clarinda; 14 grandchildren. Mrs. Jones preceded him in death three years ago.

Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Christian church at Allerton, with Rev. L. A. Johnson officiating. Pallbearers were John Adams, Clair Dougherty, Tom Brown, Chet Emack, Ray Spidal and Farris Yeager. Music was furnished by Mrs. Jim Kelley and mrs. Neva Bracewell with Mrs. Winnie Beavers at the piano. Burial was in Allerton cemetery.
