Charles, known as Ed, was the fourth child and third son of Charles DeWitt and Cynthia (Longmore) Fitch. His siblings were Florus DeWitt, Alice May, and George Lansing. He enjoyed singing and was known to have had a beautiful baritone voice. Ed, who never married, lived in Illinois, Nebraska, and Texas. He is buried next to his mother, who outlived him.
