Thomas Ysen, 61, of Bagley, Minnesota died in Sunday, July 25, 2010 at his home in Bagley, Minnesota. He was born November 29, 1948 at Bagley, Minnesota the son of Ole and Lydia (Low) Ysen. He was baptized on December 30, 1948 at his home and was confirmed on June 2, 1963 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He grew up on the Ysen family farm where he lived for the rest of his life. He graduated from Bagley High School in 1966 and then attended Staples Vocational Institute where he studied Heavy Equipment Operating. He built a cross out of a tree that was cut down by his father Ole Ysen and hung it above the door at Our Savior's Lutheran Church and he also hung the bell at the bell tower at the church. He married Margaret Flaws on September 16, 1967 they divorced in 1993. He lived with his best friend and companion, Ruth Larson. She died June 24, 2008. He worked for gesell Concrete Products for 33 years. He logged his whole life and was a third generation farmer. Tom worked for the D.N.R. as a fire fighter and was the Popple Township Fire Warden for many years. Tom emjoyed gardening, deer hunting, and the outdoors. He liked trucks and driving around on his skidder. He was a handy man and could fix anything, make anything work and was very mechanically inclined.
He is survived by his sons - Shawn Ysen, Todd (Laura Nelson) Ysen and AJ (Sheena) Ysen; 1 daughter - Barkha Ysen; six sisters - Muriel Ranisate, Arlene Jakeman, Ruth Willberg, Nancy Thorson, Mary Lou Freyholtz, and Sylvia Miller; 5 grandchildren - Tiara, Kodi, Brooklyn, Rhianna, and Zachary.
He was preceded in death by his parents, girlfriend, Ruth Larson, and his brother, Samuel Ysen. 1 grand daughter Brittani Ysen.
