Miles moved to Baltimore, MD where he married on Sep. 22, 1832 Maria "Louisa" (Messer) Vanhorn, the widow of Brice S. Vanhorn. Miles and family stayed in Baltimore for at least a year because, their son Miles Jr. was born there on Sep. 26, 1833
In 1834, Miles and Louisa settled near Belleville, Wood Co., WV on a tract of land containing 2,019 acres, known as the Isburn Survey.
