Miles Jacoby first married Anna S. (last name unknown) sometime before 1825 in Philadelphia, PA.

Miles and Anna lived in the East Southwark section of Philadelphia and attended St. George's Methodist Episcopal Church. They are listed on the rolls from 1827 through 1832/33. Miles, Anna, and their three young children were baptized on Nov. 28, 1830. The children's birth dates are listed on the baptism record:

Marietta Anna Jacoby, b. Oct 5, 1825

Robert Nuttle/Nutter Jacoby, b. Oct. 3, 1829

Louisiana Jacoby, b. July 13, 1830

On the church class rolls for Apr/1832-Apr/1833, Miles Jacoby has "removed" written next to his name. He was removed from the church rolls because it was around 1832 that his wife Anna died and he and the children left Philadelphia.

Miles moved to Baltimore, MD where he married on Sep. 22, 1832 Maria "Louisa" (Messer) Vanhorn, the widow of Brice S. Vanhorn. Miles and family stayed in Baltimore for at least a year because, their son Miles Jr. was born there on Sep. 26, 1833

In 1834, Miles and Louisa settled near Belleville, Wood Co., WV on a tract of land containing 2,019 acres, known as the Isburn Survey.

Miles and Louisa had the following children:

Miles Jacoby Jr., b. 1833 (His grave marker states: "Son of Miles and Louisa".)

Edward, b. 1836 (He died in 1863 while in a military prison during the Civil War.)

Miles Jacoby was arrested and sent to Camp Chase, OH, for a five months for being a Southern sympathizer and voting for secession.

Prior to 1860, Miles and Maria adopted Cordelia Reed who was born in 1844. She never married.
