Mary Jane Myers Bratcher, the wife of Squire D. Bratcher, was born on October 22, 1822 in Kentucky. Her husband Squire died on May 18, 1880. At the time of the 1880 Census of Caneyville, Grayson County, Kentucky taken in June the family of the widowed Mary J. Myers Bratcher consisted of: Mary J., a house Keeper, age 58; and her children: Margaret A., age 32; Ellis K., age 30; Tomas V., age 26; Robert B., age 24; James A., age 21, and Annie M., age 18. Living with the family was servant, Golston Embry, age 21, and servant John Rigs, age 18. Sons Ellis, Tomas, Robert and James were listed as laborers.

Bratcher with her husband in the Kelly Cemetery west of Caneyville on Highway 62 at Do Stop, Grayson County, Kentucky. Also buried with them in this cemetery are their children: William Wallace, Margaret A., James A., Ellis K. and U. S. Grant Bratcher.
