Gunda married Joseph Hagen on October 4, 1889. After their marriage, Joseph and Gunda moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where Joseph worked for a logging company (Rust-Owen?). As their family grew, Joseph and Gunda in 1895 moved back to the Hagen home farm which was located about 8 miles south and west of Osseo, Wisconsin. Brother Hans (Henry) had married earlier, and his wife had died, as had two of their four (or five?) children. Hans had re-married and in 1892 moved west to South Dakota with his family.
Joseph and Gunda had seven children: Mabel (1891), Roy (1893), Guy (1894), Marie (1896), Cora (1898), William (1901), and Margaret (1907). Joseph and Gunda spent the rest of their lives working their farm, with the help of their children, until they died. Joseph died December 19, 1934 and Gunda died November 13, 1944. Both are buried in the Elk Creek Cemetery in Hale, WI.
