Melba Lee  Frances Aliff

Melba Lee Frances Aliff, age 69 of Saxon, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2010.

Melba was born in Montcoal, W.Va. on April 16, 1941. She was the daughter of the late William Jennings and Edna Sauls.

Melba was a 1960 graduate of Marsh Fork High School.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Billy Sauls, Gene Sauls, JB Sauls, Ned Sauls, and her sister Yvonne Browning.

Those left to cherish her memory include the love of her lifetime, her beloved husband William Arthur Aliff, Jr. of Saxon; son William Eric Aliff and daughter-in-law Jill Aliff of Pilot Mt.; daughter Hanna Alisa Paige Aliff; daughter Amy Fare Harper and son-in-law Brian Harper all from Saxon; sister Agnes and husband Allen Pettry of Glen Daniel.

Among those who will feel her loss the most are her precious grandchildren Sydney Paige Aliff, William Tristan Harper, and Chloe Beth Harper.

She also leaves behind a host of other family, friends and great-grand babies.

The life that Melba led was simple yet beautiful. The main goal of her life was to make sure that those she loved most were always taken care of and never had a doubt that they were loved fully by her. She had a way of making anybody she encountered feel worthy and beautiful.

She was a beautiful loving wife, a gentle caring mommy, and a joyous, bestowing granny. Those who were closest to her will carry her love in their hearts for the rest of their lives. To emulate her unconditional love and understanding is something her family will always strive for.

A quote by William Makepeace Thackeray articulates best what Melba's grown children and youthful grandchildren would want to say about their mommy and granny:

"Mother is the word for God on the hearts and lips of all little children."

A celebration of life for Melba will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, at the Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Beckley with Pastor David Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Miller Cemetery in Rock Creek.

Friends may gather with the family today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
