Ragis Aloysius Fontenot, Sr. died March 4, 1982 in Raywood, Texas. A native and lifelong resident of Raywood, Texas, he was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Peter claver Council No. 83. Fontenot was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a foreman of the pipefitters for Brown and Root for the past 12 years and had previously worked as a welder for N&M Farm in Anahuac. Survivors include his wife, Nerva Fontenot; one son, Ragis A. Fontenot, Jr.; three daughters, Marion Ginger Kennedy of Houston, Texas, Lois Marie Trahan and Debra Ann Singleton, both of Beaumont, Texas; mother, Louise Fontenot of Raywood, Texas; five brothers, Joseph H. Fontenot of Los Angeles, California, John Fontenot of Olympia Washington, Wallace "Bit" Fontenot and Alfred Joseph Fontenot, Sr., both of Raywood, Texas and Dasilva Fontenot of San Francisco, California; oen sister, Shirley Ann Currette of Crosby, Texas; and five grandchildren.
