Mrs. Jarvis was a member of Temple Baptist Church where she was in the Lamplighter's Choir. She was also a member of the Gideons and a former member of First Baptist Church, Norfolk. She was formerly employed as a secretary with the Norfolk School Board.
Survivors include her son, Ralph W. Hamilton Jr. of Keyser, W.Va.; a brother, Edward W. Mayes Jr. of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Hazel J. Hooper of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Margaret J. Holt of Mobjack; two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph W. Hamilton Sr., Harvey Smith and Howard B. Jarvis.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in W.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Newport News. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. David B. Simmons officiating. Burial will take place at noon Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby Street, Norfolk. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Baptist Church, Building Fund, 235 Harpersville Road, Newport News, VA 23601, or to a favorite charity.
