OBITUARY:

Marion F. Allen, 85, of Columbia Falls died on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the Sunrise Care Facility in Jonesport after a long and courageous battle with Lung Disease. A lifelong resident of Columbia Falls, she was born there on March 25, 1922 the daughter of the late Clayton and Hattie (Pineo) Foss. She was educated in the Columbia Falls schools as a child and graduated from the Columbia Falls High School. Mrs. Allen worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the several local nursing homes and the Downeast Community Hospital in Machias. She was a member of the Columbia Falls United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women's Club. She was a member of the Delta Alpha Group in Columbia Falls. She was an avid Red Sox Fan, enjoyed gardening, playing cards, knitting, and was an excellent cook. Mrs. Allen really enjoyed the Christmas season. She shared 41 years of marriage with the late Merton C. Allen who died in 1983. Family members include her children, Merton C. Allen Jr. and his wife, Janice of Columbia Falls, Wilbur S. Allen of Centerville, 5 grandchildren, Michael Allen, Robert Allen, Melissa Allen-Ramsdell, Betsy Lash and Jonathan Allen, 7 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, and a step great-great granddaughter, 3 brothers, Stanley, Royce and Clayton Foss and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Nancy W. Allen and by 4 sisters, Norma, Cathleen, Lillian and Marjorie and by a brother, Haley. Following cremation, private burial will be held at the Ruggles Cemetery, Columbia Falls. A service of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge. www.bragdonkelley.com.
