ANTHONY J. 'TONY' AFFINITO, 86 ROCKFORD - Anthony J. "Tony" Affinito, 86, of Rockford passed away Thursday, July 15, 2010, in his home, surrounded by loved ones. Born April 17, 1924, in Rockford, the son of Dominic and Constalata (Sportla) Affinito. Married Grace Shock on Nov. 13, 1948; shed died in February 1994. Member of St. Edward Catholic Church and V.F.W., former member of Moose and of the Rockford Lithuanian Club. He enjoyed fishing with the family. Anthony joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving from November 1942 to November 1945. He received the European African Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and One Bronze Service Star. He worked for more than 30 years at Rockford Machine and Tool. Survivors include daughters, Annette (Antonio) Fallucca and Connie (Charles) Creed; sons, James Anthony Affinito and Carl James (Kimberly) Affinito; grandchildren, Tom (Erin) Schubert, Heather (Kent) Bush, Lindsay (Andy) Hattoon, Carl Rocha, Michael and Anthony J. Affinito; and eight great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Northern Illinois Hospice, with special thanks to Terri, Sue, Debbie and Michelle. Service at 2 p.m. Monday, July 19, in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine, Machesney Park, with visitation from 1 p.m. to time of service. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
