She was born in Lowell in 1927and was a daughter of the late Ernest and Alice (Kenney) Smith.
She was a graduate of Westford Academy.
Connell was an employee of the former C.G. Sargent Corp. of Graniteville.
Besides her husband, survivors include a daughter, Robin J. Connell of Westford; three sons, Steven and his wife, Jane (Milinazzo) Connell, of Westford, Allan and his wife, Therese (Perkins) Connell, of Southold, N.Y., and Anthony and his wife, Maureen (Mullan) Connell, of Andover; six grandchildren, Allyson, Christopher, Jillian, Alexander, Patrick and Devin Connell; a brother, Robert J. Smith of Sanford, Fla., two sisters Anne VanBever and Louise Healy and her husband, John A. Healy Jr., of Westford; two sisters-in-law, J Patricia Hartley of Chelmsford and Mary Smith of Westford; and a brother-in-law, Frederick Connell and his wife, Helen, of Ellenton, Fla.
She was also the sister of the late Harry V. Smith who died in 1995.
