He was a member of the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, the Overton Lodge #5, the American Legion and the VFW. He's buried in the family plot along with his father Alvin Fain and his mother Della Price Fain, brothers Deron and Olsen Fain, wife Joyce Fain and brother in-law Edgar "Buddy" Mowdy. Cause of death at Holston Valley Community Hospital in Kingsport, TN was a apparent heart attack.
