John L. Woolweaver, 76, retired superintendent of carriers at the Tampa Postoffice and the first man to deliver mail in Hyde Park, died Friday in a local hospital.
Mr. Woolweaver retired from the postoffice in 1949 after serving there 55 years. He started work as a letter carrier in 1901 and was the frist parcel post carrier in Tampa. He was a native of Gallipolis, Ohio, and moved here from San Antonio, Fla. He lived at 511 East Hanna Avenue.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs Ivy C. Woolweaver; a son, Guy Woolweaver; a daughter, Mrs. Mary G. Woolweaver, and seven grandchildren, all of Tampa.

Funeral services for Mr. John L. Woolweaver, 76, 511 E. Hanna Ave., resident of Tampa for 55 years who passed away in a local hospital Friday morning at 9 o'clock from Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church at which time a Requiem Mass will be offered for the repose of his Soul by the Rev. Fr. Anthony McGowen, pastor. Interment in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers; S.G. Harrison, Harvey Rawls, Marvin Buckner, Gus Muench, J.B. Johnson and Richard McDonald. Honorary pallbearers; George McConnell, L.F. Jenter, C.W. Bouge, M. Van Billard and all postal employees of Tampa. Rosary services will be held Sunday night at 8 o'clock from Wilson Sammon Company Funeral Home.
