Pfc. U.S. Marine Corps, WW2-Pfc. Davers was killed in action on 6-22-1944 while serving on the Island of Saipan with the 4th Tank Battalion of the 4th Marine Division in the South Pacific.

He is the son of Mrs. Pearlie Elkins of 2814 South Washington Street in Bartonville, Illinois, and the father of one daughter, Miss Lawanda Lou Davers. Before entering the military, he was known as Hershel Elkins while employed at the Western Union. He leaves two half brothers, Clyde and Robert Davers.

Awards: Purple Heart Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Pacific Campaign Medal with Two Battle Stars, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal.
