Curtis D. Wilson, Sr., 87, formerly of Mahtowa and Sturgeon Lake, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 in Grace Point Crossing, Cambridge. He was born January 26, 1923 in Hettinger, ND to Lee and Christena (Walby) Wilson. Curtis was united in marriage to Vivian Mackey on May 17, 1941 in Moose Lake. Curtis was a Navy Veteran of WWII. Curtis was a trucker in both Minnesota and on the Alaskan Pipeline. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Sturgeon Lake and VFW Post #2962 of Carlton. Curtis enjoyed fishing, traveling to see his family, gardening, baking, reading and dancing to polka music. Curtis especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Curtis is preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; his parents; 2 grandchildren, Larry Lee Wilson, Jr. and Cassie Lea Wilson; twin sister, Clove; sister, Violet; 2 brothers, Lew and Floyd.
Curtis is survived by 7 children, Larry (Karmen) Wilson of Barnum, Diane (Charles) Smith of Blue Springs, MO, Christine (Bennie) Burk of McEwen, TN, Curtis (Cindy) Wilson, Jr. of Sturgeon Lake, Dwain (Connie) Wilson of Sturgeon Lake; Kevin (Janette) Wilson of Crane, MO and Robin (William) Bailey of Isanti; 36 grandchildren; 72 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; sister, Carla (Richard) Swenson of Ramsey; sister-in-law, Marion (Norman) Tout of Esko; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 26, from 5 -7 P.M. in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and continued on Saturday, February 27 from 10 AM until the 11 AM service in Faith Lutheran Church, Sturgeon Lake. Spring Interment will be in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery Silver Township. Arrangements are with Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.
