James Roy Clark 72 of Kirksville passed away Wednesday (September 30, 2009) at Northeast Regional Medical Center. The son of Henry and Edna (Gillgrass) Clark, he was born July 2, 1937 in Graysville, MO. He attended schools in Putnam County and graduated from Livonia High School in 1955. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in June of 1958 and was honorable discharged in 1962. He served four years of active duty and four years in the reserves.

Jim married the love of his life, JoAnne Robbins on November 23, 1962 in Worthington, MO. They would have celebrated 48 years of marriage in Nov. of 2009. Jim is survived by his wife, JoAnne; daughter, Tammy Overton and husband Orin of Unionville, MO; sons, James Lloyd Clark and finance Tanya of Kirksville and Roy Dale Clark and wife Lori of Kirksville; his grandchildren, Oliver Overton and wife Cassie, Kyle Overton and wife Amanda, Tanner Overton and finance Stephanie Gillum, Roy Dale Clark Jr., Andy Clark, Konner Clark, Madison Clark, Chaz Eiler and Sierria Eiler and Jim was happily expecting his first great grandchild.

Jim worked with his father most of his younger years operating the last slope coal mine left in existence. He later worked as a prospect driller for Missouri Mining for 14 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, Labe and Ruth Robbins, grandparents , several uncles, aunts and cousins. Jim was a gentle peaceful man, never saying an unkind word about anyone or to anyone. No one ever had a better son, husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbor than Jim Clark. Even though Jim was not a member of any organized church, he had a very deep and personal relationship with God. Jim was a rock and Indian arrowhead collector and loved to fish. Jim was a wonderful father that loved his wife and children dearly. His oldest daughter Tammy was always his baby girl.

Graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (October 3, 2009) at McCune Cemetery in Putnam County, MO with Reverend Kevin Collins officiating. Pallbearers will be Oliver Overton, Kyle Overton, Tanner Overton, Orin Overton, David Robbins and Tony Robbins. Honorary bearers will be Wayne Gregory, Joe Robbins, Edward Robbins and Labe Levi Robbins Jr. Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Saturday (October 3, 2009) at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer funeral Home 2100 E.
