Mary Belle Carter, 78, died April 26, 2000, in Klamath Falls of natural causes.

She was born in Oklahoma to Ben Jones and Angie (Talent) Jones. She attended school through seventh grade. She worked in California as a nurses' aide for more than six years.

She lived in Arkansas and California before moving to Klamath Falls. Mrs. Carter was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, serving as vice president from 1983-84, and was a member of the Order of Cooties Auxiliary for more than six years. She was married in Napa, Calif., in 1942.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Ruby Monk of Orangevale, Calif.; daughter, Gloria Christensen and granddaughter, Cheyne Christensen, both of Eagle River, Alaska.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
