These two couples, along with Lydia and James Albert Moyer's brother Samuel Wilson Moyer migrated to Holcomb, Dunklin County, Missouri in 1892. The weather was awful, the Mississippi River flooded in one of the worst floods recorded up until that time, wagons mired in the mud, and the three families got stranded in Charleston, Mississippi County, Missouri (near Sikeston). The three couples stayed in Charleston for nearly a year before they traveled on to Holcomb. According to Virgie Ingle Pharris, a granddaughter of John Thomas Ingle and Lydia Moyer Ingle, the families were on their way to Louisiana to work in the pine forests. By the time they arrived in Holcomb in 1893, they decided they liked it and would set up their homes there.
By 1900, all three of John and Lydia's children are living with their uncles James Albert Moyer and Samuel Wilson Moyer. Several online descendants/connections report John's death date as 1935. I have searched extensively for legal proof but have found none. I have searched extensively for the "root" of the reported death date of 1935, but I haven't yet isolated when the 1935 death date started appearing. While various people report the date, none of them attach any proof with it.
John Thomas Ingle is probably buried in an unmarked grave in Pine City Cemetery in Holcomb, Missouri where James Albert Moyer and Samuel Wilson Moyer are buried. There are several burials in the Moyer plot in Pine City that have no markers. In 1971, when my father Marvin Doyle Moyer, was buried at Pine City, the cemetery administrator said it was difficult to find an empty plot. Several attempts were made to find a burial site for Daddy but each time an attempt was made, a prior burial was discovered. These prior burials were not shown on the cemetery map.
It has long been my belief that the unmarked graves at Pine City belong to Lydia Moyer Ingle, John Thomas Ingle, at least two of their children, and some of the Ravelette family that belonged to James Albert Moyer's second wife Victoria Ravelette Moyer. James and Victoria married late and life and she is buried at Pine City. I have found some death certificates for Ravelette familily members that indicate they were buried at Pine City, but when I have visited the cemtery I have found no Ravelette markers.
