Richard J. Divis, 69, Seward, died June 4, 2000, at Seward. He was born April 27, 1931, at Bee to John and Josephine (Augusta) Divis. He graduated from Seward High
School in 1948, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on Aug. 14, 1951, and served until Aug. 13, 1955, when he was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. In 1958, he graduated from Milford Trade School. As a carpenter, he worked for a contractor in Omaha and
Seward. On Sept. 15, 1962, he married Jeanette Liska at Dwight. They moved to Seward that same year.

On May 14, 1973, Mr. Divis accepted the position of building construction instructor at Southeast Community College-Milford, where he taught until retiring on Sept. 26,1988.
He loved children and teaching others. He loved working with wood and was respected as a master carpenter. He designed, drafted and built his own home at 1515 Plainview in Seward.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine Divis; sister, Dorothy Rowe, and a nephew, Steve Rowe.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Divis, Seward; brother, Joe Cuda, Valencio, Calif.; sister, Jean Stroesser, Omaha; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were June 8 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Seward, with the Rev. Brad Zitek officiating. Casket bearers were Ken Flyr, Dan Holtz, Mark Kolterman,
Brian Liska, Eugene Liska, Jr. and Howard Riedl. Burial with military honors by VFW Post 4755 was at Seward Cemetery.
