Ruby E. Collins, 86, of Charlottesville departed this life for a better one on June 18, 2010.

She was born on April 30, 1924 in Albemarle County, the daughter of the late John C. Collins and Nellie B. Chisholm Collins. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Stuart Lively and Michael Lively, her husband, Lewis R. McDonald, Sr.; her ex-husband, Lilburn J. Lively; seven sisters, Gwenn, Faye, Lillian, Annie, Margie, Marion and Virginia; two brothers, Pat Collins and Buck Collins; and a son-in-law, Roger Johnson.

She was a member of Belmont Baptist Church.

Surviving her are her children, Lewis R. McDonald, Jr. and his wife, Bettie, of Charlottesville, Thomas B. Lively and his wife, Lindy, of Gordonsville, Brenda L. Coffey of Charlottesville, John L. Lively and his wife, Brenda, of Keene and Debra F. Johnson of Fluvanna County; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and spouses; and other family members and friends.

The family's gratitude goes to Hospice of the Piedmont and Care Advantage with special thanks to Santana and the nurse caretakers at the end.

A graveside service was held Monday June 21, 2010 in the Riverview Cemetery with the Rev. Greg Anderson officiating.

The family received friends Sunday June 20, 2010 at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home.
