HICKORY - Josephine Hudson Abernathy, 87, of Hickory passed away April 29, 2010 after a brief illness.
Josephine was born December 3, 1922 in Catawba Co. to the late William H. and Winnie Burns Hudson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Abernathy, a brother and 2 sisters.
She was a lifelong member of Providence Baptist Church and worked at various hosiery mills.
Surviving are a daughter, Carol Watts and husband Nelson of Hickory,
son Robert D. Abernathy and wife, Janet of Hickory,
granddaughter, Lisa Abernathy Jess and husband Scott of Spring Lake,
great-grandsons, Ethan and Gabriel Jess.
Funeral services will be Sunday, May 2, at 3:00 P. M. at Providence Baptist Church with the Reverend Charles Hensley officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:30 until 8:30 P. M. at Providence Baptist Church.
