Born March 17, 1895, in Glasford to John and Anna Peters Clinebell, he married Elinor Essex. She died in 1928. He later married Emilie Kroepel in 1930. She survives in Peoria.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. James (Rosemary) Thomson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one son, Lyle of Wyoming; one sister, Mrs. Louis (Elinor) Bontz of Peoria; and three brothers, George of Peoria, Emerson of Pekin and Glen of Mahomet. One daughter, Lela Dawson, and three grandsons preceded him in death.
He attended Illinois State Normal University, Western Illinois University and Bradley University.
He farmed near Wyoming and later taught school in Peoria and Stark County for 46 years.
Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery, Glasford.
