Charles was a prominent farmer who served three terms as Trustee of Brown Twp in Martin County, never having been defeated for public office and being the only democrat to be elected of that township over a period of 35 years.
He knew personally and was respected by every family residing in his township. He was also a trustee of St. Joseph Church for many years.
Charles died at the home of his son, Dr. John William Strange, on May 1, 1932.
