Chelsea Rae Flores, 16, died Saturday, June 12, 2010 from injuries received in an automobile accident. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 15th at Merkel First Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Chelsea was born June 29, 1993 in Abilene to Rickey and Eugenia "Jennie" (Riojas) Flores. She attended Stith Community Baptist Church. Chelsea was a senior at Merkel High School and involved in FFA. She enjoyed hanging out with friends, dancing and singing. Having three brothers she had to be tough, but was outgoing and always smiling.
Survivors include her parents, Rickey and Jennie Flores of Merkel; 3 brothers, Rickey Flores Jr., Randie Flores and Rylee Flores all of Merkel; her big brother figure, Rodrick White; her paternal grandfather, Robert Flores and wife Betty of Merkel; paternal grandmother, Olivia Trejo of Brownwood; maternal grandmother, Gloria Riojas of Merkel; maternal aunts, Mary Salas of Plainview, Martha Riojas of Merkel, Virginia Loredo of Graham; maternal uncle Onofre Riojas Jr. and wife Adelissa of Georgia; paternal aunts and uncles, Dora & Don Salas of Brownwood, Robert Flores Jr. of Coleman, Terry Jose Gonzales of McAllen, Virginia Flores of Merkel, Ramiro Flores of Merkel; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Onofre Riojas.
