He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, the son of the late Frank Byers and Maude Stepp Byers.
Howard graduated from Edneyville High School Class of 1949, was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was an Apple Grower and Farmer.
He is survived by his sister, Ethel Byers Brock; nephews, Bobby Brock Jr., David Brock and Steven Brock, and four great-nieces, Whitney, Taylor, Alma and Courtney.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., today, at the Mtn. Home Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Blackwell officiating.
