Susan was born in Trenton, old Hunterdon (now Mercer) Co., NJ, the daughter of Alexander Campbell and Ann Yard. She married Bradbury B. Bell on 13 Oct. 1842 in Trenton. She joined the First Presbyterian Church of Trenton, 1861. She died aged 48, leaving 6 children (5 of whom were still minors).
Note: The D.A.R. inscription list for Mercer Cemetery gives her birth date as 12 February 1825 based on an earlier stone. However, other sources confirm that she was born in 1820, as is shown on the modern stone. It is presumed that the year was misread when the D.A.R. list was made and that Susan's full birth date was 12 Feb. 1820.
