Services for Herbert H. Schaefer, 93, of 511 Craig St., will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Gang Memorial chapel and at 9 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church. Mr. Schaefer died Thursday at home. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Mr. Schaefer was a native Syracusan. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in naval aviation. Mr. Schaefer was employed by the Hearst newspaper company in New York City in the 1920's. Later, he was the official photographer for the City of Syracuse. Mr. Schaefer was employed by the General Electric Company, during World War II. After the war he was employed by the Prestolite Corporation. He retired from Prestolite in 1958. From 1958 to 1960 he worked for the federal census bureau. Mr. Schaefer was an active member of the Republican party. He was a communicant of the Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of its Holy Name Society. Surviving are his wife, the former Emma Ott; a son, Herbert; two grandsons; a niece; and a nephew.
