Kathryn Griggs Whaley, 93, of Houston, TX, died April 29th, 2010, at Emeritus of Cy-Fair Assisted Living in Houston following a valiant fight against pneumonia.

She married William Harold Whaley October 29, 1937 in Tulsa, OK, where they made their home and raised three children. Mrs. Whaley was a member of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church and was active in Sunday School class leadership along with her husband.

In 1996 the couple moved to Spalding, MO, to Cloverleaf Farm, the family farm, where they enjoyed twenty years as active members of the community where Mr. Whaley grew up and had deep roots. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2005 in Houston, TX. She is also preceded in death by her parents and by their son, David Landes Whaley, also of Houston, formerly of Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

She was a prolific letter writer and kept up an extensive correspondence through the years with many life-long friends and family members. She was also known for her wry wit and lively conversations. She always sought to find a common ground with everyone, and enjoyed meeting and making friends wherever she went. She will be missed by those who loved her.
