RITES TUESDAY FOR EARL GLENNEY
Earl Glenney, 66, a lifelong resident of the Union community, died Saturday morning at his home in Union. He had returned home Thursday from the Eldora Memorial Hospital where he had been hospitalized for a week.
Final rites will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Community Church at Union with Rev. John Christy officiating.
Pallbearers will be Everett Gregwire, Don Adams, Earl Sawin, Carl Bryant, Tom Glenn and Ed Collins with Mrs. Kathy Norman organist. Burial will be in the Miller Cemetery near Union. The Biersborn Funeral Home of Union is handling arrangements.
Earl Vaughn Glenney, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Glenney, was born March 28, 1899, on a farm near Union. He was married on April 24, 1918, to Josephine Pierce and lived all his life in or near Union. He was a member of the Stanford Church.
Survivors include Mrs. Glenney; his father, Lee Glenney of Union; one son, Wendell Glenney of Marshalltown; three daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Arlene) Crosser of Eldora, Mrs. Virgil (Katherine) Mackie of Whitten and Mrs. George (Virginia) Harrington of Marshalltown; twelve grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Also a brother, Kenneth Glenney of Chicago, Ill., and seven sisters, Mrs. Maurine Shaver, Mrs. Iva Ellis and Mrs. Nita Anderson of Union, Mrs. Wilma Cockerham of Hubbard, Mrs. Edna Tjarks of Marshalltown, Mrs. Burma Pock of Chicago, Illinois and Mrs. Dorothy Benbow of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Fern.
