She taught algebra and math at Jefferson Jr. High in Abilene for many years and was a certified life underwriter. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a long-time worker in the youth department. She played piano for the third-grade Sunday School class. She was a service member of the Fidelis Sunday School class, a volunteer worker for the Girl's Auxiliary, and an active member of Baptist Women.
Survived by two sons - Sarge Newman and Dick Newman; one daughter - Kerry Neman; one daughter-in-law - Cathy Newman; one sister - Ina Mae Guinn; two grandchildren.
