Charlie Evans was the manager of the huge Bartlett-Collins glass works. He invented and engineered glass manufacturing equipment and designed the beer glass used by "Archie Bunker" on "All In The Family." It was known as the "Charlie Evans Goblet." He also held a US patent on the design and manufacture of an innovative Art Deco style pitcher he designed while at Bartlett-Collins Glass in 1932.

He died at the young age of 51 from complications resulting from a relatively rare genetic disorder known as IHCM which results in heart failure. He is the father of Marguerite Evans Butler, a teacher of the deaf, and Charles Richard Evans. He was married three times; Myrtle Bell, Hazel Mary Nida (mother of Marguerite), Lela Hatton.
