Lt. Williamson was killed in Winchester, Va. in a battle with a Confederate unit lead by Gen. Stonewall Jackson duing the Civil War. His body was returned to Akron, Ohio. He was the first Summit County resident to be killed in the Civil War. He was 22-years old. An inscription on his monument reads..."Tis sweet and fitting to die for one's country."
