Phoebe crossed the plains from Iowa with her parents by ox team to California in 1854 , they spent two years in California mining for gold, they arrived in Oregon in 1856. Phoebe was a member of the Methodist Church, but became a firm believer in Creedless Christianity.
My great grandmother Phoebe was only 15 years old when she married my great grandfather, Isaac Lee Boyle, they were the first couple married in Canyonville.
Phoebe came from a family of 11 children, her twin sister Sarah Jane Thrush married Richard Crow.
She was a woman of firm beliefs. One might say tough minded and steadfast,passing these traits on to her daughter and my grandmother Ida. .

Daily Review;
July 17, 1909 ( Thursday )
Constable Bayless went to Days Creek Thursday and arrested Phoebe Boyles and daughter Ida on complaint of Fern Basseler, who charges them with assault.Trail Monday.1:P.M.

Hmm!! I wonder what this was about?? Those Thrush/Boyle women!
