Jimmie D. Davis, 44 5 E Vine St., died Friday, Sept. 6 at his residence.
He was a native of Co-Op, Ky, and had lived in Richmond, Ind., before coming to Liberty in 1974.
He was a member of the Baptist Church in Kentucky and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of American Legion Post 122 of Liberty and worked at Root's Blower for 18 years before retiring earlier this year because of illness.
Survivors include his wife, Janice E. Davis; four sons, James Michael and Bobbie Gene Davis, both of Liberty, Terry Lee Davis of West College Corner, Ind., and Timmie Jo Davis of Connersville; one daughter, Jennifer Plough of Convoy, Ohio; his mother, Lexie Ann Davis of Richmond; two brothers, Charles William Davis of Bossier City, La., and Charles Stanley Davis of Ft. Knox, Ky.; six sisters, Norma Gibson, Gene Wise, Elizabeth Bright, Vella Johnson, Zoe Owens and Linda Worch, all of Richmond; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmie Jo Davis, and his father, Charles S. Davis.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Showalter-Blackwell, Baker-Fosdic Chapel lin Liberty with the Rev. Larry Waters of Muncie officiating. Burial will be in West Point Cemetery at Liberty with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion and the VFW posts.
