Green Witten Kegley
1920 – 2010
GRAYSON – Green Witten Kegley
is safely in the arms of God. He left this life at the age of 90, on May 15, in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
He was born April 19, 1920 in Elliott County, Ky.
He was the last surviving child of Benjamin Cecil ("Dock") Kegley and Myrtle Howard Kegley Rogers. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Hicks Kegley, and six children, Margaret Bishop and Bob of Louisburg, N.C. Beverly Kegley of Castalia, N.C. Glenna Young and Lynn of Waynesville, N.C. Ellie Knipp and Roger of Olive Hill, David Kegley of Olive Hill, and Chris Pernell and Joey of Wake Forest, N.C. An infant daughter, Wanetta, and a son-in-law, Carlos E. Geyer preceded him in death. Thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
For more than 30 years, he was pastor of the Smokey Valley Bible Church. During these years many wonderful families and individuals became part of his life and an extension of his family, most particularly the Bear family of Grahn, Ky. While living in North Carolina, he attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He served his country during World War II and was proud to have been a member of Darby's Rangers, Special Ops, United States Army.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Sat, May 22, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Ky, with Steve Webb and Lee Mike officiating.
Burial will follow in the Perry's Branch Cemetery in Olive Hill, Ky.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. May 21, and until the service hour Sat, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Ky.
