Alfred Arelious Blevins, dedicated and loving husband and father, passed away in Mansfield on Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Service: Was Friday, April 30, at Midlothian Funeral Home. Interment: Mount Peak Cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Rodney, Troy, Travis, Lone, K.C., Steve, Gaines, Coy and Richard Doxtater and Corey Cooper. He was born March 2, 1926, in Martha to Arelious and Neta Pearl Blevins. He married the love of his life, Marie, on Sept. 29, 1946, and had four children, Gaines Alfred Blevins, Wesley Harold Blevins, Mary Evelyn Blevins Bernard and Tommy Dewayne Blevins. Alfred served in the Coast Guard in the Asiatic Pacific from 1943 to 1946, being discharged March 25, 1946. He was an aircraft mechanic for 48 years. Alfred was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Martha "Marie" Wadsworth Blevins, in 2003; youngest son, Tommy, in 2001; oldest son, Gaines, in 2005; parents, A.D. and Neta; two sisters, Doretha Lipe and Eula Wadsworth; one brother, Robert Blevins; and grandson, Lone Blevins. Survivors: Son, Wes Blevins of Avalon; daughter, Mary Bernard and husband, Eddie, of Midlothian; sister, Oleta Cooper and husband, Jim, of Midlothian; brothers, Elgin Blevins and wife, Ruth, of Hempstead and Grundy Blevins and wife, Vera, of Harlingen; grandchildren, Rodney Blevins, Ellen Blevins Boykin, Troy Blevins, Travis Blevins, Destree and Richard Doxtater, Deedre "DeeDee" and Corey Cooper, K.C. Bernard, Shonda, Jerelene Bernard Navarro, Steven and Samatha Blevins, Gaines and Laura Blevins, Coy Blevins and Pam Craft, Sherry Blevins and Jennifer and Jason Reheer; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. His brother, Grundy, passed away about 24 hours after Alfred on April 28.
