I have not confirmed this memorial is Willard S. Hogaboom as of 12/31/2019.

Willard S. Hogaboom born c. 1861, laborer, in household of his brother in Richmond township, Tioga County in 1880. In August 1881, he became bookkeeper for Lormore & Tompkins in Elmira, New York. He was of Elmira when he married 25 June 1882 at Millerton, Pennsylvania, Clara Pierce of Troy (The Advertiser, Mansfield, Pennsylvania, August 2, 1882). In the 1882-4 directory of Elmira, W. S. Hogaboom, book keeper at 310 Carroll, house at 308 Spaulding. In December 1883, he was clerking at D. H. Pitts & Co., in Mansfield, Pennsylvania, having left Clara in Elmira. There are various articles in Elmira newspapers of Clara's difficulties after their separation, one indicating she fell into company with another married woman in Elmira with bad habits. Another article indicates she underwent a delicate operation and became addicted to opium. She returned for a brief time to Troy and then returned to Elmira and resided with a sister, but was eventually arrested for opium use and sent to the penitentiary in Hudson, New York. She improved there and moved to a cottage on the grounds and was teaching. She was released and returned to Elmira, then was working in a hotel in Wellsburg and then removed to Auburn, New York where she died 14 August 1891. There was an inquest conducted and an autopsy, but it was not certain how she died and ultimately it was ruled morphine poisoning. She was buried in an unmarked grave in the Soule Cemetery in Sennett, New York. The lengthy article in The Auburn Bulletin, August 14, 1891, indicates she had two children, but both had died. An article also indicated she was buried at the expense of the county, but an Elmira newspaper stated her father sent funds to an undertaker in Auburn. Willard married 5 June 1889 in Putnam County, Indiana, Matilda Fannie Young b. c. 1869 Kentucky. Fannie died 11 February 1893, age 23, Greencastle, Indiana, childbirth (Greencastle Star Press, February 18, 1893). Willard was of Cook County, Illinois, age 35, when on 27 October 1896 he married at Mason County, West Virginia, M. Maud Hill, age 22, born Gallia, Ohio. Willard stated he was born Westchester County, New York. Maud was born Aug 1874 daughter of Thomas Hill and Eleanor Thomasson and she was enumerated with her parents in the 1900 census enumeration in Columbus, Ohio, no children. Willard and Fannie's two children were living with their uncle Robert Young in the 1900 census enumeration in Springfield, Missouri. Willard died 24 June 1904 buried Saint Johns United Church of Christ Cemetery, Harrisville, Shenandoah County, Virginia.
