Abraham Gabriel Kilmer was my great great grandfather. He was born in Ohio to Issac and Mariah (Maria) Gephart. (I found an Ohio marriage record for Issac Kilmer and Maria Gephart dated April 2, 1837. They were married in Montgomery, Ohio.)
A. Gabriel's father,Isaac was originally from Pennsylvania and I am not sure where his mother was born. From my research, it appears that his full name was Abraham Gabriel Kilmer (He also went by Abram) and that he used each name predominately in his life at one point or another. Mostly, he went by Gabriel. (Abraham may have been a family name as Issac's great-grandfather was Abraham.)
Gabriel's first wife was Mary Sease and they had 4, possibly 5 daughters together.( My great-grandmother Sarah was his second eldest daughter.)
I believe that after Mary died, Gabriel married for a second time to Amanda Pippenger around 1879 and went on to have 4 more daughters and one son with her. He seems to have been a farmer and spent all or most of his life in Montgomery County. I believe he may have been separated or divorced from Amanda Pippenger as in the 1910 census she isn't listed as living with him. Amanda died in 1998, after A. Gabriel and is buried in Hillgrove Cemetery under her maiden name and has a tombstone with that name on it.
It appeared (from his Ohio Certificate of Death) that Gabriel spent the last year or part of it in the County Infirmary in Montgomery County . Gabriel died on December 9, 1915 and according to his Ohio Death Certificate is buried in Eversole Cemetery, where some other members of his family also are. I had two different volunteers try to find his grave, but neither person could find it. Perhaps it is unmarked or he was buried elsewhere.
