Alberta Neil, 89, of Springfield passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
She was born in Albany, New York, on March 6, 1921, to Herbert and Marian (Sherman) Young. She married Clifford M. Neil in 1943, in Springfield; he passed away in 2005.
A son, John Neil, also preceded her in death.
As a young lady, Alberta was a member of many social and church organizations. She was a graduate of McMurray College. She was formerly employed as a secretary for the dean of Springfield College in Illinois and she was a former dean of admissions.
She is survived by a son, Dale (wife, Peggy) Neil of Rock Island; two granddaughters, Esther Neil of Rock Island and Johanna Neil, currently of Champaign; and one great-granddaughter, Phaedra.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2010, at Camp Butler National Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Novy and the Rev. John E. Nelson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, Lincoln Library or the Visiting Nurses Association.
