Betty was the daughter of Tom and Mary (Taylor) Wood and was born on April 20, 1927 at Strang. She married Sam Fields on November 20, 1947.

Betty worked as a waitress for the Wintons Café and the Home Café in Jay. She worked as a cook for the Guinn Nursing Home, Jay Public Schools and later worked as a teachers aide. Betty was a member of the Eastern Star, Business and Professional Women's, Home and Garden Club, and charter member of the Women of the Moose.

She will always be known for her huckleberry pies and sauce, and very active in the community. Family and friends will always remember the large amounts of food that she would prepare and make available for anyone that was hungry, especially when folks would gather at the farm to make music. She always had her hair done and makeup on and was always dressed nicely.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons Sammy Fields and Kenny Fields.

Betty is survived by two sons John Fields and his wife Donna, and Joe Dee Holland, all of Jay. Betty also helped raise several other children in the Jay area.

Betty was living at Grandwood Living Center in Grove at the time of her passing. Betty had many many friends and is missed.
